Sara Ricciardi’s vision of colors, metaphors and organic shapes unfold in the series of limited edition vase-sculptures created with Rometti and developing the concept of the seed. The vase-sculptures will be presented from 23rd September until 20th November at Palazzo Brancaccio, the Contemporary Cluster’s new space, in a single show curated by Giacomo Guidi, Artistic Director and Co-founder of the gallery with arch. Giorgia Cerulli.
SEMINA
by Sara Ricciardi
CONTEMPORARY
CLUSTER
Semina, is the allegorical name that binds the 38 ceramic pieces of pure ceramic art; an intimate and introspective journey that celebrates the power of nature and the feminine with a disruptive aesthetic and a poetic sense that embraces every detail. A reflection on pain, but above all on the energy that is released through it and overcoming it.
In an interview with AD, the designer talks about the work of creating the pieces with Rometti. “Rometti is a company made up of people; we didn’t have a moment of hesitation in experimenting, we worked late into the night cutting and molding the pieces together. A company with which I had a totally visceral relationship far beyond the designer / supplier dynamic.” The sculptural artwork of Semina is the result of a process that makes the ceramic organic, it invites you to touch and discover it not only with your eyes, but also with your fingers. Lumps, signs, growths, protuberances, holes become the language with which the seed communicates its desire to sprout, in a constant tension between pain and freedom”. “We are happy to have created these pieces with Sara Ricciardi, translating her expressive and imaginative power” comments Jean-Christophe Clair, Rometti’s Artistic Director. “Her energy and harmony involved our entire laboratory and we infused this great emotion into the ceramic”.
The venue for the event is at Contemporary Cluster’s new space, in the Africano area inside the historic Palazzo
Brancaccio in Rome, a nineteenth-century residence which, thanks to the collaboration between Cluster and Field, has returned as a cultural space for the city after years of closure. “We have been collaborating with Contemporary Cluster for some time now, - adds Massimo Monini, CEO of Rometti, - but we are always amazed by an unparalleled artistic sensitivity and the ability to sew bonds, stories and experiences around the chosen works. Thinking about Semina inside Palazzo Brancaccio means creating a universe of worlds to explore and we can’t wait for the public to discover it”.
PRESS REVIEW“In Italian, Pianto is the past participle of the verb to cry, it speaks of a pain already passed through, left behind. Pianto is also the present tense of the verb to plant, it tells of a new energy that takes root and opens up to the future. The tears we shed spread like seeds on the soil of our bodies. We fertilize. The seed is a simulacrum. The seed is a shield. It has armor to defend itself, furrows and fur to feed on. How much audacity, how much strength in giving birth to our present every day” - Sara Ricciardi.
